Today's advanced batteries don't just plug in to existing systems. These battery packs require management systems that ensure proper charging and discharging for long-term, reliable operation. Battery Management Systems are engineered to meet performance demands and are integrated into the battery pack design.
We have developed a portfolio of BMS solutions for high-performance applications, including electric cars, hybrid-electric aircraft and grid-connected energy storage. Spanning both passive and active technologies, our highly configurable products allow for rapid deployment of a system optimized specifically for your application.
Vehicle Control Units
When a car is racing at 185 mph, control is critical. Our vehicle control units manage the entire vehicle's operations and are highly configurable to suit a variety of different requirements, including those of cars, motorcycles, aircraft and specialty equipment.
These units are fully programmable, with a robust software library and flexible input-output circuitry. The units are rugged, protected by IP67 waterproof enclosures. The units are designed to work with a vehicle's powertrain and other subsystems to regulate all vehicle electrical functions.
We also custom design and build full vehicle electrical systems for a variety of applications based upon our core vehicle control technology.
Stafl Systems Control Studio
Many embedded software engineers find it difficult to develop custom code for a new vehicle controller, particularly when complex setup and configuration steps are required. Vehicle development teams need a powerful and efficient way to program on-board embedded controllers, without wading through collections of legacy interfaces and processes.
Launching in September, the Stafl Systems Control Studio will provide a native C++ development environment with seamlessly integrated, easy-to-use driver libraries. An efficient installation process and a number of well-documented example projects make it easier to start programming within minutes. This enables clients to rapidly develop high quality and reliable custom code that executes on our VCU and BMS products.
Electric and Hybrid Powertrain Design
A modern vehicle is more than a computer on wheels. The motor, batteries and electronic components must work together effectively in the final application. We provide comprehensive solutions for electric and hybrid powertrain applications, both with our own components and through our partnerships with industry leading suppliers. The high voltages and currents that are present in electric and hybrid vehicles present unique challenges that must be considered when designing circuits for these applications. This is vastly different from the comparatively quiet environments of other applications, such as consumer electronics. Our team specializes in designing custom PCBs with stringent operational requirements in electrically noisy environments. Embedded Software Development
Today's vehicles employ many embedded control modules that include battery management systems, vehicle/engine control units and body controllers. These devices require software that operates safely and reliably in real time. Using C/C++ or Matlab/Simulink, we provide embedded software solutions that run on our hardware platforms or other off-the-shelf control modules.
